Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has decided to hear together the supplementary writ petitions filed demanding the restoration of the House of Representatives.
A constitutional bench led by Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut, along with Senior Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla and Justices Hari Prasad Phuyal, Manoj Kumar Sharma and Nahakul Subedi, issued an order on Tuesday to jointly hear the supplementary writ petitions submitted by eight sitting Nepali Congress MPs.
According to Supreme Court Spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala, a total of 57 former Nepali Congress MPs have filed writ petitions seeking the restoration of the dissolved House of Representatives.
The supplementary petitions were filed by eight former Nepali Congress MPs, including Chief Whip Shyam Kumar Ghimire and Whip Sushila Thing, requesting that their petitions be heard along with the earlier cases related to the dissolution of Parliament.
Meanwhile, written responses have already been submitted by the Office of the President, the Prime Minister, the Speaker and other concerned bodies in relation to the 17 writ petitions filed earlier demanding the restoration of the House.
